Did You Know: Decision Tool v2 and DSW Compendium

EPA has available two tools to help understand the definition of solid and hazardouswaste. The Definition of Solid Waste (DSW) Decision Tool v2 is an interactive decision support tool designed to follow a series of decisions that a typical user might make when determining whether a material meets the definition of solid waste for purposes of being a hazardous waste. The decisions in the tool are organized to simplify this determination process and to allow the user to reach a conclusion as quickly as possible.

In addition, EPA has posted the DSW Compendium. The Compendium is a collection of written materials about specific issues related to the definition of solid waste. The resources referenced in the Compendium include Federal Register (FR) notices, documents from RCRA Online (e.g., RCRA Hotline Q&A's, letters, and memoranda issued by EPA), relevant Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) language, as well as other resources.

Both DSW tools can be found on EPA's website. See http://www.epa.gov/wastes/hazard/dsw/tool.htm and http://www.epa.gov/wastes/hazard/dsw/compendium.htm.
