Yesterday I shared that the promises of God can be likened to luggage on a carousel/conveyor belt. There are twists and turns and it looks like things are going in one direction when they suddenly turn and go in the opposite direction. Yet after all the twists and turns your luggage finally comes right to you, just like the promises of God. Well there are other issues I feel I should mention. Not only does that promised blessing sometimes move completely out of our line of vision, sometimes there are counterfeits that pop up and confuse us while we're waiting. I travel a lot, and I see people who obviously don't know their luggage that well. Is that mine? It looks like mine? They inspect similar bags and sometimes they even pick up others' bags and have to put them back, often embarrassed. Similarly we're not always so clear on what God spoke to us. When similar opportunities and 'blessings' arise we may mistakenly pick them up, confusing them with our promise from God. And what comes along that winding twisting belt may look like what we asked for, even if it isn't ours.

We have to keep revisiting God's words to us, so we won't succumb to counterfeits. I have brightly colored straps on my luggage bearing my name in large letters, so my luggage won't get confused with another's. We can ask God to 'put our name on our promises' so we'll know them when they come along. We don't need to accept counterfeits anymore than we would accept another's luggage. Can you imagine how uncomfortable it would be if you took someone else's luggage home? Tried to wear clothes intended to fit someone else? No, what God has for us is designed to fit us. Ask Him to engrave His promises on your heart; and on the promise itself; so you won't miss what's rightfully yours.

The way you get familiar with your promise is by getting familiar with God. The more You seek Him the more you will find Him and the better you know Him the better you will know His voice. Get so close to God that anything He has for you may as well have your name written on it in bold letters.
