The 2010 Music in Mackinaw free concert series opens this Saturday June 19, 8pm at Conkling Heritage Park. Song of the Lakes from Traverse City is the headliner.
This Band is known for their connection to the audience and interpreting the spirit of the Great Lakes in Song through unusual acoustic instruments. They have something for everyone- Bring your friends, a blanket or a chair and welcome in the series Saturday evening! The Mackinaw Area Visitor Bureau is the sponsor of this opening concert.
Our free concert series is brought to you by the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural affairs and the Cheboygan Area Arts Council, community patrons and business sponsors. Passport to the Arts - June 11 - September 17, 2010 The Mackinaw City Chamber of Commerce is now an ARTown. This "passport to the Arts" program through Michigan Arts & Culture Northeast, is a 14 week calendar of events related to arts, culture, history, humanities & related businesses.
Participants attend events and programs then receive a stop on their passport. The events listed span from Alpena to Cheboygan counties.
The Chamber of Commerce program features included this year are the Music in Mackinaw Saturday evening concerts. The free Mackinac Bridge Museum on Ironworkers Festival weekend, August 13, 14, 15, and the Mackinaw Historic Audio Tour with passports stamped at Teysen's Gallery.

Community Notes
The Ausable Valley Animal Shelter will be having an adoption day at Paws Fur Fun on Wed, June 23rd from 10 AM to 4 PM. They will be bringing 4 or 5 dogs (hopefully some puppies) and will be hoping to find some good "forever" homes for them. If you're looking for your new best friend or know someone else that might be looking.....please come see. At least come and talk to these great ladies and pet some of the beautiful doggies!!! |  | Spring Bike Tour & Ride Across the Mackinac Bridge
The Big Mac Spring Shoreline Bike tour was a bit damp but the riders enjoyed the cooler temperature and the challenge. Kelly reports that the riders count was the same as last year but would have been higher with day of registrations had the weather forecast been better. We had a good Mackinac Bridge crossing on Sunday with the choice of a day at the Island or the cruise back to Mackinaw City on the Arnold Line Ferry. Registrations are being accepted for the larger Fall tour Sept 18 &19.
