CDC updates dental guidance for H1N1 On November 23, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated specific guidance for the Prevention of 2009 H1N1 Influenza Transmission in Dental Health Care Settings. This guidance recommends vaccination as one of the most important interventions for preventing transmission of influenza to health care personnel and encourages all dental health care personnel to receive seasonal influenza and 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccinations.
It also includes new recommendations on the use of an airborne infection isolation room (not indicated), N95 respirators, and infection control measures for personnel with influenza-like illness.
