GET YOUR BLACK EXPRESSION ON WITH BRIAN SIMPSON OF BLAXPRESSION
Brian "Ikulcha" Simpson travels the Life Path of the Change Agent. He is an experienced operative in the movement for Black empowerment
and cultural renewal having gotten his primary immersion in this
field as a member of the pioneering Cultural Healing and Awareness organization, Strength to Strength, in St. Thomas Virgin
Islands. It was there that he shared duties with team members hosting
a popular weekly radio show (bearing the name of the organization) as
well as honing skills in event planning, management and workshop
facilitation. In 1998, IKulcha co-convened and organized (alongside
project partner Maria Stiles) the hugely successful Rastafari Livity
Educational Forum (RASLEF), a multi-day conference on the Rastafari
movement comprised of seminars, workshops and reasonings with
an international panel of Rasta elders and activists.(This event was
sponsored by a grant awarded by the Virgin Island Humanities Council
in commemoration of the 150th year of Emancipation.) Whether working within the system as an Education Specialist
assigned to adjudicated juveniles or on the outskirts as a teacher/
member in the Marcus Garvey Home School collaborative project, Ikulcha has consistently cultivated his capacity for service,
always seeking to exert a positive influence on the youthful and
rebellious. On par with his record of social/cultural service is his
commitment to self-employment and entreneurship: besides maintaining a
decade-long private tutorial service for teens and adults pursuing GED
and high school diplomas (in St. Croix, USVI), Ikulcha is a certified
yoga instructor, a jewelry maker and t-shirt graphic designer. He now
stands poised to integrate these different aspects of his life with the
launch of Blaxpression Apparel, a for-profit venture that embraces a
social enterprise business model where creating a sustaining revenue
stream for associated non-profits is equally important as achievement
of prosperity for the primary business principals. Brian, a native of Jamaica, attended University of Maryland,
College Park majoring initally in Engineering and later in English. He
is a devout student-initiate of the indigenous Yoruba spiritual system
popularly known as Ifa-Orisha. | www.blaxpression.com ikulcha@yahoo.com

Friends,
10 hikers from the Caribbean take on "Billy Goat" | This past Saturday, a bunch of us decided to get in a nice hike before Autumn comes and we had a super duper time doing the Billy Goat trail in Great Falls, MD. Kudos to Bobby "Dat Raas" Ball for making it happen and capturing the moments which you can see HERE and big ups to the crew above (Fanta, Carva, Wendy, Cheryll, Rosie, Buffy, Bobby, Dawn, Moreen and Amanda) for being a part of the team!
Brian Simpson and Peppy on the set of "PEP Talk" | | Also on Saturday was the ultra private pre-launch of "PEP Talk" and a great interview with Brian Simpson of Blaxpression. All I can say is that you NEED to rock one of these Afrocentric tee shirts courtesy of Blaxpression; you MUST meet Brian aka Ikulcha; and you HAVE to check out FlemoTV to see the interview for yourself. Who knows, YOU could be the next guest on the much anticipated "PEP Talk"...link mi!
Also on Saturday was DJ Spyda's "Time To Shine" Virgo Birthday Bashment. I was in "pap dung" mode from the hike, interview, and playing hostess to my guests, but could not miss it because I am a VIRGO and DJ Spyda is mad cool. Yow, de party did MADDDDDDDDD! Not even the eediat almshouse ting weh happen earlier could spoil the sweet vibes. The energy was high; the event was well attended; there were DJs and media galore in the house; and most importantly, the man of the night, Spyda was in very HIGH spirits. Bless up and Happy Birthday again, Spyda!
This weekend it will be about the Labor Day celebrations. Many of you will be traveling to NY to check out the Labor Day Parade on Eastern Parkway and some of you will be traveling to other parts. I will be taking some ladies to experience the magnificent Medissage and we shall be getting our fitness and wellness ON! Big up to the fabulous Kathy English Holt who will be joining us and much respect to the one and only, Swami Gyankirti for hosting us. Link me or Swami for YOUR beautiful escape to Medissage.
Have a safe and enjoyable weekend. Happy birthday to all the Virgos celebrating this week and early next week including Raymond Agnant, Bridgette Saunders, Dany Bourjolly, and Kim Bey. Happy Anniversary to my parents and Previn & Roxanne Francis.
Welcome to September,

Alex and Javia Flemmings | Founded in July 2010, Flemo TV is the lifelong dream of
founder Winston Alexander Flemmings (Alex). At an early age Alex identified his
love for the arts and his Jamaican culture. After meeting his wife Javia, they
realized that they shared similar interests and soon after collaborated on this
adventure. Alex is a film major at the Art Institute of Washington,
where he studies Digital Cinematography. He worked as a Graphic Designer for
Coral Cliff Entertainment Complex, in Montego Bay Jamaica for three years prior
to migrating to America. Co-Founder, Javia Flemmings is very passionate about
marketing; she graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in
Marketing from Brock University (Canada) and a Master's in Business
Administration from the University of Maryland University College. The marriage of these 'bits and pieces' has resulted in the
formation of Pixeworks, LLC. Pixeworks strives to use technology as a catalyst
to provide superior digital content; services include Graphic Design, Digital
Film-making and Video Production. Alex and Javia did not forget about their
heritage and therefore Flemo TV was born. Flemo TV is a production of Pixeworks LLC.
Flemo TV will highlight the Caribbean through music, news,
cultural highlights and entertainment. Flemo TV's mission is to provide
original content - originally shot, edited and moderated - our focus will be on
providing positive programming to appeal to residents of the Caribbean who want
to stay in touch with their roots and non-residents who want to learn about the
many cultures. Flemo TV is rated FFA (Fun For All). Please visit www.flemotv.com tomorrow, Thursday, September 2 for the official sign-on!

The Clairvoyant is a philosophically challenging and tragically beautiful story with many interweaving plots and subplots. Malaika, the clairvoyant, is born with extraordinary psychic powers. With
one action, she alters the course of humanity by committing an act that
is simultaneously noble -- and unimaginably horrific. She is brought to trial and faces the death penalty for her actions, while being defended by a brilliant but troubled lawyer.www.clairvoyant-film.com |
| Undercover DEA Agent Darius Kramer received an assignment to
infiltrate, expose and take down the deadliest and most elusive drug
family in New York City. The job requires his expertise, strategic
moves, and no mistakes. But the DEA is not aware of one critical piece
of information: its agent is the pawn in a lethal strategic game, where
making mistakes is the only certainty. Closing the case is a race
against time; every opponent's move could mean death and each of
Darius' moves could cost him his life.
