The fun side of eco-awareness ... making serious connections

Green Drinks Wrap-Up

Tuesday, October 19

5:30 p.m.
Yellowfin Steak & Fish House

Wow ... even "outside" of town it was a BIG night! Whether it was the curiousity of what greening Yellowfin was up to, the interest in solar, our fun event with great connections ... or the fabulous food, we'll "blame" it all! Thank you above and beyond to everyone involved, especially Yellowfin.

The crowd never disappoints ... it was as diverse as could be. We even tried to link you further with "dots of interest," and we'll continue to explore ways to draw similar eco-interests together. Now for a few specific thank yous:
 - John Davis of HB properties the "efficiency expert" who leads the way in suggesting sustainable solutions to Yellowfin and their other properties. Keep up the great work.
- Teris Pantazes of Seven Seas Energy who brought a solar panel and his building/installation plans for all to see. He did a lot of talking that night, explaining the project.

Yet, behind the scenes putting it altogether, we thank Kevin Gersonde and his staff for amazing food, terrific service and a Brunch for Four raffle.  Our DJ/sound system pro, Jack McAdory and our crew of voluneers - Stephanie1, Stephanie2, Sandi, Melissa, Kater, "Mollie Behind the "and "Rosie on the Raffle." Thank you so much.

The 36-panel solar project, installed by Seven Seas Energy LLC is part of a much larger program involving sustainable energy initiatives throughout the Yellowfin organization. The solar energy array will provide over 10,000 kWh of electricity annually. That's equal to the energy consumed by a typical home in Maryland. Learn more.

Seven Seas principals are George "Drew" Frank and Sotereas "Teris" Pantazes. Teris is the head honcho of Green Drinks Baltimore

So you see, we do have a lot of fun, but we are very serious about helping you make serious connections -- whether it's to learn more, buy a product or meet like-minded people.

Join us next time at Federal House, on November 10. That will be our Green Marketplace Green Drinks where you can Shop Green for the holidays from local merchants whose products are good for the Earth. More info later.

RainScaping
Beautiful Solutions to Water Pollution!
An Environmental Partnership for Stormwater Runoff Solutions

Did you know that stormwater runoff is the major cause of water pollution in Anne Arundel County?

Working together, 44 (and growing) partners are implementing the RainScaping Campaign to improve the health of Anne Arundel County's tributaries and the Chesapeake Bay. The campaign highlights pollutants carried to our waterways in stormwater runoff such as sediment, excess nutrients from overuse of fertilizers, pesticides, oils, metals, and other contaminants; as well as the lack of natural filtering processes and infiltration. The RainScaping Campaign promotes a comprehensive approach to easy-to-use solutions to clean up our streams, creeks, rivers, and the Chesapeake Bay.

RainScaping techniques such as rain gardens, native tree and shrub planting, rain barrels, and permeable pavers are proven and widely-accepted "beautiful landscaping techniques" that effectively manage stormwater runoff at the source, while protecting natural resources and providing wildlife habitat. It's Beautiful Solutions to Water Pollution!

The RainScaping Campaign is sponsored by the Chesapeake Bay Small Watershed Grants Program, which is administered by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF). For more information contact info@rainscaping.org.
