Old School Heavy Metal Guitarist
I love to hear stories about women who do extraordinary things. Especially young wome n who go against the grain. Meet Kayla Pence: A 17-year-old guitar player from northern Virginia, with an affinity for Heavy Metal. Kayla started playing when she got a guitar for her 13th birthday, caught the Heavy Metal bug after hearing Metallica's Master Of Puppets and became fully inflicted with the influence of former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist, the late Randy Rhodes. "Metal spoke out to me more than any other genre(of music)." Pence is serious about her guitar playing and even studies guitar at school, venturing into some Classical and Blues, but still prefers Metal to anything else. She's even written and recorded some of her own original material.
Breaking into the music industry is tough from any angle. Breaking into the world of Metal, as a female, poses quite a few more unique obstacles. Pence is determined to be recognized for her talents. "I want to be known for just being a guitar player, instead of a girl guitar player, or (as) 'Oh she's hot' or something like that. I want to be known for my playing and not my looks." Well, Pence is making an influence in her little corner of the world. She caught the attention of some local bands when she played at the Rumble In The Valley. Over the last few years Pence has been invited to jam with several bands like the Diamond Backs, 8 Lives Spent and, most recently, Fuzzbox, in renowned venues like Empire(formerly Jaxx) in Springfield, VA and Baltimore's 9:30 Club. She's even shared a stage with the Shields Brothers of The Voice Season 2. While jamming with bands and playing cover tunes is sufficient to quench her thirst for Guitar Goddess status for now, Pence has a definite plan for the future. "I would like to be playing music in a band. I always want to be performing on a stage. Hopefully I can tour with a band all over the place because I just want to be a famous guitar player."

Last Chance To See Chris Van Dahl Perform
Summer is winding down, and so is Chris Van Dahl's run at Legends In Concert! If you haven't seen his show as legendary Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler, then you better hurry!! His last performance in Myrtle Beach is September 2, 2012. The current lineup, also including Dolly Parton, Britney Spears, and Stevie Wonder, will be moving on, making room for Alan Jackson, Bobby Darin, Little Richard and Celine Dion. Elvis is, and will remain, a staple at Legends!
So quit your Cryin' don't be Crazy, be an Angel, jump Back In The Saddle and Walk This Way to Legends, where it's not just the Same Old Song And Dance; where you can dare to Dream On about a Permanent Vacation and feel the Sweet Emotion of Amazing music!
