"It's simple. We're just changing the world."

Simple acts of kindness have profound consequences

Greetings!...

I know I owe you Part 2 of John Stonestreet's "Why Kids Don't Get It." John is just back from Australia so we'll give him a couple of days break.

Instead, let's do a follow-up to our Jan. 9 issue about "the game"--when a Texas Christian school found itself in the spotlight by doing something totally unexpected.

Grapevine Faith is one of the 150 Christian schools in the U.S. that has hosted the Passing the Baton workshop for its faculty.

Ed Smith, Faith's head of school, e-mailed last week: "It occurred to me that our faculty and staff accepted your challenge to 'Pass the Baton'....a concerted effort among all influencers to pass the baton simply works! Tracey and I are grateful for your influence that continues to permeate the campus of Grapevine Faith."

"The game" was two and a half months ago. What has happened since then is amazing. Curious? Read on--and make it a great week!

A football game that had national impact--and no, it wasn't the Super Bowl.

Grapevine Faith pictureIn the Jan. 9 issue of GRTL I shared the story of a Christian school that went far out of its way to show love to a correctional facility that it played in football. A story this good couldn't stay secret for long. Many of our readers helped create buzz by forwarding the e-mail and putting it on their blogs.

But the most incredible part of the story wasn't told until a feature article in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Sunday. As one of the Faith players said:

"To see all that we've been taught over the years come up in real life, and more than that, see the impact it has had on people around us has definitely given me perspective," senior Jordan Dunnington said. "That perspective makes me look beyond the immediate, to see how simply being a leader in action can have a ripple effect of impact on others."

So what's the rest of the story? Find out here.
