ABOUT THE COMPANY AND THIS NEWSLETTERFarriers Greeting Cards was started by Gina Keesling in 1986 (in a very small way) to provide helpful promotional materials for farrier husband Rob. Along the way we became HoofPrints.com, too, adding a selection of fun horse and dog products geared toward women of a certain age. This newsletter is emailed to subscribers a few times a month, depending on how often I have something to share. Watch for special sales, interesting stories, uplifting quotes and more.

More about HORSES AND HOPE Calendar for 2013 Last time, we announced that the calendar was in the works, pictured the cover, and the January layout. Sarah and I are hard at work on the rest of the months, and like last year, there are so many incredible photos and stories that go with - it is hard to narrow it down to just 12 month's worth. (which is why the 2012 calendar had 100+ pictures!)
We are not quite ready to unveil the layouts for any more months, but I can give you a sneak peek at the content that we are planning. One is the story of Georgia, a Quarter Horse mare who was taken in by Helping Hearts Equine Rescue. She was terribly thin, but even in her sad condition she had a spark in her eye that let them know she had the will to live. And live she did. Sarah's put together a powerful photo essay, telling the story here. Another happy ending is that of an unremarkable looking, minimally marked paint mare that landed at the Camelot Auction. She was smallish, unkempt, barely broke, and had a bad eye. But when Bev Goff saw her, she knew that she was "the one". For $260. It's All About Me (Mimi) was hers. Mimi's eye problem resolved quickly and her vision is fine. It soon became apparent that she's one of those horses that has a mind that riders and trainers covet. Bright, willing, interested and trainable. She's pictured here at her very first show, where she performed like a pro - brought home several ribbons and tied for overall reserve champion! You can read about her lovely transformation in Sarah's blog post here.
A third tale with an unexpected ending is Tristan's, the huge ex-Amish Belgian was presented at the sale in thin condition, with bad leg and a cancerous eye. Horse Rescue United purchased him for just $35. to save him the suffering of a long ride to Canada to slaughter. The intent was to make him comfortable until his days were up, which looked to be soon as the cancer in his eye had spread to the rest of his head. The vet removed his bad eye and they hoped for the best. Tristan surprised them all - he bounced back quickly, gained weight and now looks fabulous. He's surpassed his expected lifespan by many months and is still going strong. The shots Sarah took of him at a recent photo shoot portray an athletic, vibrant charger - not the sick, worn out plow horse of his past. I can't wait for you all to see these pictures...

Horse Savvy Day Planner for 2013
It just keeps getting better!
This is the best calendar/horse record keeping system we have ever seen. It's a nice, compact size (5 3/8" x 8" - spiral bound) packed full of ideas for keeping tabs on your horses' lives.
It's printed on high quality, heavy paper for continuous, daily use. And it's not all utilitarian - each week has a different picture on the left hand page; truly a celebration of the horse, every shape, size and color in every discipline imaginable. This calender will give you daily appreciation for the variety of equines and their jobs while it helps you keep track of your appointments. At the bottom of the opposing page is an inspirational quote, bit of wisdom, motivation, or training tip! This year, the folks at Horse Savvy have added these nifty little STICKERS so you can place a colorful visual reminder on important dates. And they're bound right into the planner, so they can't fall out and get lost - they stay right at your fingertips at the very beginning so no fumbling for a sticker when you need one. These are in stock for immediate shipment. And we've got a few of the 2012 Planners left - marked down at below half price. See all our calendars here.

NEW Horsewoman Sculpture! These are pricier than our other sculptures, but boy are they nice!Artist Kathy Fincher is riding down a new trail and sharing her love for horses through the eyes of her childhood. As a child, Kathy would jump off the school bus and onto her horse, Silver Star, and ride to the house. Her early artwork was expressed on the pages of school books where her sketches of horses would run and leap into motion as the pages were flipped. UnBridled Wonder rounds up theses two loves: children and Horses. Kathy's western paintings and designs portray the relationship and the journey of a child and their horse. These hand cast, heavy resin sculptures look and feel like bronze at a fraction of the price! It's not shown in the photo, but each comes with a brass plaque on the front that's imprinted with the name of the sculpture, and the artist's signature is embossed in gold on the top of the base. They're nice size, too at about 11" tall. We have 3 to choose from here.

NEW INSPIRATIONAL STRETCH BRACELETS: NOW THERE ARE 4!
We introduced the first three of these last week - the components for the 4th were still being made and were on order - not expected for several more weeks - so it was a pleasant surprise when the Victorian Heart Charms, complete with horseshoe, showed up.
These comfortable stretchy elastic bands feature a two sided message plaque with horse charm. One size fits most - band is about 7" unstretched.
We love the fun messages that these feature:
"I'm Still Hot - It Just Comes In Flashes Now"
"Life is Tough - But I Am Tougher"
"The Biggest Risk In Life - Is the One You Don't Take"
"Count Your Blessings - Not Your Troubles" They're inexpensive, lightweight and fun. They come nicely packaged on flat cards, so could be mailed (also inexpensively) as a thoughtful gift along with a card.
These are only $9.95 each and we've even got a special deal going - BUY 3 - GET THE 4TH FREE!

Viral marketing... it sounds bad, doesn't it? You can ask my husband - a frequent topic around here is that of forwarded emails - and the psychology behind them - just WHAT prompts people to decide; "I am going to send this to everyone I know!".
We receive a lot of them. Some are pretty good, and others are dumb. Dumb in a myriad of ways... Alarmist email rumors that have been around forever - that folks keep sending "just in case it's true" Pictures of someone's butt (or worse) - don't even get me started about the firecracker butt - but at least that one was timely when it showed up around July 4. Christian messages that are uplifting - until you get to the end and you're threatened "if you're not ashamed that you love Jesus, forward this - if you are, then delete." Pictures of cute puppies and kittens (awww)
I enjoy writing these newsletters - and sharing all this stuff with you all. But the fact is, it's also a way to help us stay connected with customers and sell products during the time between catalog mailings (which is only once a year) So I really, really like it when someone new stumbles upon the newsletter and is excited to "discover" our company and the products we offer.
In all my efforts to make the newsletter interesting and forward-worthy - it never occurred to me to JUST ASK you all to send it! Duh. Sometimes the obvious is elusive, I guess. So here goes - my request to ask you to forward our email newsletter to your horsey friends. All we ask is that you please be judicious and only send to folks who might be interested. Otherwise we are no better than the "firecracker butt". Click to get started. (please note - using this form does NOT subscribe anyone to our list - it is a one-time only forward)
