ANOTHER NEWSLETTER?
Didn't I just send one a few days ago?
Naughty bucking horse Yes I did. It's here.
Don't get alarmed, we won't be bombarding your inbox every 3 days from here on out. In fact, I am hard at work on the new catalog, and once we get all the new products online it's likely you won't hear from us nearly as often.

We've got some major surprises in store for everyone on this new catalog. It's an entirely different format than you're used to, but represents a significant savings in postage for us.
You can make sure you're on the list to receive your copy in October by submitting your info here.
NEW Gloves for Farriers!

Are your hands covered with cuts and scrapes? Wear out gloves instead of

Heritage Gloves your skin!
Recognize that your HANDS are one of  the most important tools that you use, and protect them accordingly. With wear, your gloves will become tattered, but consider that the damage they sustain would have been to your skin.
Our old standby, the Ironclad Farrier Glove, has been a favorite for many years. And now we've added a second choice, made by riding glove manufacturer Heritage. These utilize goatskin leather, as opposed to the all-synthetic Ironclads. These also come in Extra Small; we've had many requests for this size and previously were unable to offer. You can check out our complete selection here.
NEW 6th Edition - Adams Lameness in Horses

Now in full color, this text has been fully revised and streamlined to improve

Adams Lameness Book cover user-friendliness. It's been streamlined and still weighs 8.25 pounds! So that tells you just how much material is packed into these pages. This book features a new, simplified format and a stronger emphasis on the diagnosis and management of lameness. A valuable supplementary DVD provides a complete guide to diagnosing lameness, offering additional anatomical images; video clips demonstrating key procedures such as physical examination, flexion tests, perineural and intrasynovial anesthesia; and examples of lameness conditions in motion.

The Sixth Edition presents new or significantly rewritten chapters on the axial skeleton, principles of musculoskeletal disease, principles of therapy for lameness, occupation-related lameness conditions, and lameness in the young horse. The diagnostic procedures chapter has also been significantly expanded to reflect advances in this important area. For free downloads of table of contents, index and complete sample chapter click here.

New wood sign reminds you how to handle stress like a dog.
If you can't eat it, or play with it, then pee on it and walk away.
Handle Stress Like a Dog Good advice, if you ask me. Dogs don't spend time worrying. They size up an object or situation, decide if it could be fun or tasty - and if not, they take a potty break and go on their next adventure. Even if that adventure is a nap.

This distressed, crackle-painted wood sign is MADE IN USA of real wood (not pressed wood composite) It measures 12"x12"x5/8" thick and has a hanging slot on the back.

Dog lovers scrapbook kit & other dog gifts preserve memories
This would be a fun gift for anyone with a new puppy...
Doggy Scrapbook or even for someone who'd lost an old dog and would like to compile a keepsake for memories. When Zack died, and I set about creating his tribute video (that's here) I realized I had pictures of him scattered all over - in albums, on the computer, etc. I even still have his AKC papers, and the results of some genetic testing we had done for a muscle disorder. (weird, I know - but you never know when you might need the AKC papers and genetic test results for a neutered, dead dog...) I once had a dreamcatcher woven of shed hair saved from another beloved dog - (that's a whole 'nother story... see GOOD STUFF below for photo) Anyway, this album would be the perfect place to round up all that stuff and keep it all together, more info here.
Also shown in this picture is our sterling silver Angel Dog Necklace and Dog Keepsake Box, those are sold here.
If you've never checked out our other DOG products, now's the time
We've got a lot of rare prints online that have never been in catalogs.
Dog category page When we acquired HoofPrints from original owner Judy Sprague in Massachussetts, (story here) with that inventory came a LOT of one-of-a-kind, rare prints from sold out limited editions. Since they were sold out editions, it didn't make sense to put these in the catalog, as we couldn't guarantee supply to customers. Ebay's not worked that well - (although we did sell one very rare print of a Clumber Spaniel to someone in Australia for $800.) My point is, there are some real treasures languishing here in the print drawers.
We've got hand-pulled etchings by master printmaker Henry Wilkinson in 7 different breeds. I suspect these are worth far more now than the prices we've got listed (remember - the Clumber Spaniel print above was released at around $150.)
Also prints by the famous (and now deceased) British sporting artist Mick Cawston. And of course the infamous Poker Dogs, which are neither rare nor expensive, but still funny... To explore our dog products, click here.

GOOD STUFF

Links to things we like, things that make us smile, things we want to share...

Paws Dream Catcher I get lots of comments on the stories that I share. Many times folks tell me that a particular story had a message that arrived to them at the exact time that they needed it.

I have a large file of stories and links that I have saved for many years. They are in no order whatsoever - appearing to be a jumbled mess. But the right thing always comes to the front - and this week it's spider webs.

The picture here is a dreamcatcher that I had woven from the hair of a dog that we loved for many years. Paws' story is here.

Then I found a story I had saved: God & The Spider's Web about a young soldier saved from certain death by the web of a spider.

After that, the perfect story to sum it up and tie it all together, thanks to Joseph J. Mazzella:
Dream Catchers
On the wall above my bed, there are two very beautiful dream catchers that my wife bought. They are red and brown willow hoops decorated with feathers, horse hair, and beads. They have a wonderfully delicate, spider web design in the middle of them. At the very center of the web, in the very middle of the dream catcher, there is a round hole. The Native American Lakota Tribe believes the dream catchers represent the web of life. Their people believe that hanging them above your bed or in your house will sift your dreams and visions. The good in your dreams will be caught in the web and carried with you, but the evil in your dreams will pass through the hole and no longer be a part of your life.

I enjoy looking at these lovely dream catchers, because they always remind me of what I want to do in my own life. I want to catch only the good within myself. I want to capture only the highest, wisest, best, most loving, most giving, and most joyous part of myself and let the rest fade away. I want to become the person God meant for me to be and live the way God meant for me to live. I want to become a wonderful part of the web of life and share only love and joy with others and the world.

The glorious truth is that you, I, and everyone else in this world can do this too. God loves us all so much and God gives us the strength and ability to become our highest selves. We can choose to be the person God meant for us to be. We can fill ourselves with love, joy, and light and then share them with the world. We can capture the angel within and allow the worst parts of ourselves to fade away. We can live as a true Child of God sending smiles, giving love, offering joy, scattering sunshine, and creating laughter wherever we go. We can catch the dream of the person we always wanted to be and make it a reality.
Share our emails
Viral marketing... it sounds bad, doesn't it?
You can ask my husband - a frequent topic around here is that of forwarded emails - and the psychology behind them - just WHAT prompts people to decide; "I am going to send this to everyone I know!".

We receive a lot of them. Some are pretty good, and others are dumb. Dumb in a myriad of ways...  Alarmist email rumors that have been around forever - that folks keep sending "just in case it's true" Pictures of someone's butt (or worse) - don't even get me started about the firecracker butt - but at least that one was timely when it showed up around July 4. Christian messages that are uplifting - until you get to the end and you're threatened "if you're not ashamed that you love Jesus, forward this - if you are, then delete." Pictures of cute puppies and kittens (awww)

I enjoy writing these newsletters - and sharing all this stuff with you all. But the fact is, it's also a way to help us stay connected with customers and sell products during the time between catalog mailings (which is only once a year) So I really, really like it when someone new stumbles upon the newsletter and is excited to "discover" our company and the products we offer.

In all my efforts to make the newsletter interesting and forward-worthy - it never occurred to me to JUST ASK you all to send it! Duh. Sometimes the obvious is elusive, I guess. So here goes - my request to ask you to forward our email newsletter to your horsey friends.  All we ask is that you please be judicious and only send to folks who might be interested. Otherwise we are no better than the "firecracker butt". Click to get started. (please note - using this form does NOT subscribe anyone to our list - it is a one-time only forward)
