Hi Everyone,
My dear friend Dana and I were reminiscing about Rosh Hashana -- the Jewish New Year -- which begins tonight. We so clearly recall our mothers dressing us up for Temple in our new wool dresses (cause it's Fall, right?) and it was always so hot! We'd be sitting in Temple sweating and fidgeting and we couldn't wait to go home and change into shorts and a tee-shirt! Rosh Hashana was the beginning of a new year, a new season, and no matter how hot it was, it was the season to wear wool.

Once again, it will be in the 80's on Rosh Hashana. We just had to laugh as nothing has changed. I can't recall a cool Rosh Hashana.

But there is something in the air, this time of year, that feels like change. The New Year coming at the end of Summer and the start of Autumn feels more meaningful to me then December 31 to January 1. Not much changes in the air then. I love this connection to nature.

By the way, according to the Jewish Calendar, the year is 5771.

So I would like to wish everyone a beautiful, abundant season -- for this and all seasons to come. In Judaism we have a lovely tradition of eating apples dipped in honey  -- some say apples to signify the harvest and honey for a sweet year. But as with most things Jewish, there is no straight answer for this tradition. I had fun reading this here.

As we say, Happy Healthy. Shana Tova (Happy New Year) to all,

Peace, Shalom, Salam,

susan
