How Long Should Your Video Be?
Studies have shown that most people tune out of web videos somewhere between the two and three minute point.
If you are going to cover a complex topic, it's better to break up the video into several short "chapters" than to try to run it full length. You can name each chapter with the content it contains, and that will help search engines find your information.
Vary the on-screen view by changing positions, moving to different areas and interspersing visual or musical transitions. This will keep interest high.
Keep it short, keep it moving, and break it up into manageable chunks.
(WARNING: I didn't follow this advice for the video above. My excuse? It's an information-packed interview, and to cover all that ground in three minutes would have meant speaking like this guy.) Enjoy, and I hope you'll tune in until the end, which has the most surprising information about web video in the whole interview.

Next TimeIn the next issue, I'll talk about making multi-purpose banners. When you incorporate your logo into a "banner" design, this handy graphic can be used at the top of a web page, your stationery, a report or a blog. I'll give you measurements and specifications for the most versatile formats to use.
