We are in the final week before Paws on Parade.
On October 1st, we will walk as a team to help the homeless pets in our area.
In the process we have a great time.
I believe strongly that it is the effort we all put into our community that really makes a difference. We all watch the news, we all feel helpless as the politicians banter back and forth.
Whether you are Independent, Democrat, Republican, or Politically Apathetic, I guarantee you that your energy is better spent volunteering in your community that griping at the TV.
Paws on Parade raises money to help pets in our community. I know that because I watch them do it.
I watch them struggle with the problem of pet overpopulation...its not an abstract concept for those at the Bangor Humane Society.
Every single day they take in more homeless pets.
I watch them come up with creative new ways to give pets a second chance and a loving home.
I watch them take care of each one of those pets.
I watch them cheer when a dog or cat they have been snuggling for weeks finds a new home.
Its an uphill battle, so every year we come together and walk to support them.
Here is what we have so far this year...
We as a team have raised $3,490
I know some of you have checks that have not been counted yet. Please send them into Stacey at BHS and she will post them to our team. If you don't get a chance, drop them off here and we will bring them.

If you are not on this list and want to be, the answer is yes.
But you have to walk with a pet. If you don't have one, we have plenty to lend you, just drop me an email.
Elizabeth, you get a "Get Out of Walk Free" Card, but only because you fractured your leg.
This card is for one year only.
If you have donated to me or the team, my sincere thanks.
If you were thinking about doing it, click here.
and thank you too.
We can make a difference.
Those who walk
Those who donate
Those who use this email to find your own passion and give in the community in other ways.
Those who give a home to a deserving pet
Those who help in the Snuggle Committee.....
A moment about the Snuggle Committee for you newbies to the list. Each year for the past 3 after Paws on Parade we have formed a team to spay/neuter pets at BHS.
Valerie, myself, the techs at BHS, and a group of you I dubbed the Snuggle Committee donated our time and spayed and neutered over 100 pets last year alone.
In addition, we have spayed over 30 cats through Friends of Kindred Spirits.
I've decided that this year, I need to leverage my training to make a bigger difference. I am going to teach you all how to spay and neuter. Together, we will conquer this problem of pet overpopulation.
I will supply Propofol anesthesia in vials and make a home instruction sheet...
Wait.
I'm getting a text from my Senator
She says no on the home spay/neuter idea.
Something about federal law....DEA....Code of Medical Ethics....
Friggin' Politicians!
