Digger, Mittie and Eleanor are all in loving homes tonight thanks to people in our online community.
Yay you!
For those who expressed interest and were beaten to the punch by quick emailers...hold that space in your home and heart, in the next few months there will be more opportunities.
In addition, mark your calendars for April 30th because I am giving a talk at the Sea Dog Brewing Company (the conference center is to the left as you look at the building) on Helping Your Pet Age Gracefully. I will start at 10am and try to finish by noon.
I have given this talk several times now, and its a topic that I am passionate about. Last month, my talk was on infectious disease because we are faced with an outbreak of several diseases in dogs over the past year. The one on Aging Pets will undoubtedly interest some of you more.
I will condense the talk from a 4 hour one I did in Presque Isle to a shorter version with time for refreshments and plenty time for a question/answer period at the end. I promise to keep it relevant, interesting, and give you practical things you can do to help your pet as he/she gets older.
For those of you who are new to the email list, these talks came out of excitement that I had after attending a national veterinary conference. I went to a few lectures with awesome speakers and came home excited to bring some of the topics home. I love talking (anyone who reads this probably already knows that), and in the case of this topic, it came out of a lot of research that I did for my own pets to try to cut through the crap that is "sold " to us in the way of products.
If you think its bad for the pet owner, I have to say that the amount of products that are detailed to me now that I am a practice owner is crazy. Every sales person has a food or product or drug that is going to save my patients. After awhile its hard to tell the science from the salesmanship. So to prepare for this, I went back to the original studies on key nutritional and behavioral papers to find out what is based in science.
I'm leaving plenty of time at the end for discussion because I know from giving this talk before that people need to ask questions to make it make sense for their situation. This is your day, you bring the questions.
This lecture series is brought to you by Kelloggs, the brand that you can trust.
No seriously, it is brought to you by Friends of Kindred Spirits. Donations will be happily accepted that day in a non-descript, totally no-pressure jar in the back of the room.
April 30th, 10am-12pm, Conference Center at Sea Dog in Bangor. Be there or Be Square.
...and before you go on to have an awesome week. click on the deer and dog at the top. Its too cute.
Spring makes you feel great, I don't care what species you are.
