The lillies are blooming!!! Now that feels like summer. Several things strike me as I start another post-vacation week. 1) It takes me three to four days to take it down a notch 2) I love reading. 3) Sun is good, ocean is better 4) I am a lucky guy...on many fronts Vicki and Kelli are on vacation last week and this, so please be patient if you call and get a newbie. We have several techs covering from the emergency clinic and they are great. However, they are just learning how to make an appointment on our software. Sandi, Donna, Yvonne and Becca are the alpha dogs this week. Now, you'll remember that I invited you all to pick the lilacs this spring as I told you my family story of the annual trek to find lilacs for my mother. For the following week I was charmed to find many people with their kids and beautiful baskets filled with fragrant flowers. Well now I have to tell you another story. The week of the lilacs, my wife received a copy of the email through a neighborhood friend. I don't know if I told you guys that I hadn't mentioned the story of the lilacs to my wife. Did I mention that? OK, so one of the things that she mentioned in our "discussion" afterward is that if I sent out an email to 1200 people inviting them to pick our asiatic lillies, that she would neuter me. Since she has seen the procedure many times, and is a nurse practitioner with access to the surgical instruments at the clinic, I'm going to have to ask you guys to just smell the lillies. As a consolation prize, I am sending pictures instead.

I was also pleased to get a surprise call from WLBZ this week that I had been nominated and selected for the 2 Those Who Care Award. Thank you to Kendra Raymond for nominating me and for Jen Bouchard, Dave Cloutier, Chris Miles, and Suzan Bell who all wrote letters of support. For all those times that you all read my emails with tears running down your face, I have to say you got me back when I read the Nomination packet. Thank you also to my wife and staff and all my friends who completely kept this from me for several months while the preparation was done (insert a little sarcasm there since I had no freaking clue). Seriously though, I am honored. I am proud to be the leader of the Kindred Spirits Team, both in the practice, in the community and on our online forum. For those of you who read the story of my first dog Jeannie, I wish I could go back in time to that kid and tell him about the number of people he will one day find who feel just as strongly about a very special relationship. You guys rock. But don't take my lillies. Seriously. She'll do it. :) Mark
