Featured Article: Meet Faye Sanders!
About Faye: Faye was married to Ray Sanders for 35 years when he died in August 2000. They had two children-- Angela Sanders-Turner and Matthew Sanders, who both graduated from LCS. Faye is now a grandmother ("Nana") of five. Faye gave her heart to the Lord when she was 21 years old. At that time, the Lord began to conform her to His image. After Ray died, she functioned in the obedience He had taught her. The Lord remained faithful during that time and has provided for all of her needs. Faye took an early retirement from her job with Metro Government and was hired as the administrative assistant for the church office at Lighthouse. She then decided to get a college education. Brother Al allowed her to work part-time during the school year, and she graduated in May 2009 with her degree. The ladies' life group: About two years after Ray died, Faye met Judy Hausmann and they started a life group. At first, Judy was the facilitator and Faye assisted her, but when Judy had to move on to other things going on in life, Faye moved into the role of the group leader. Faye believes God has blessed their group with His grace and wisdom. Their group is for women who are widows, married with lost or saved husbands, divorced, or single. They are a group of women who care deeply for each other, pray for each other, and check on each other often.
What she enjoys about leading a life group: "I am very grateful that God is using me to
facilitate a Life Group because each one of us ladies has learned to care
deeply for one another. It is a gift
from the Lord that everyone cares for one another the way God cares for each
one of us. The Ladies Life Group has a strong group of women who love the Lord
with all of their heart. We would
welcome more women to our group so we can care for them also." |

Life Group Database
Many of you have submitted your life group's information for our current database update. Thank you! If you haven't updated your group's information, please do so as soon as possible. We have set up an online form to make this easier. Thanks for your help! Maintaining an accurate database will help us keep track of each life group's growth
(looking towards multiplication), determine how many people from our
fellowship are currently part of a life group, connect new people
with a group, and keep our website and print materials up-to-date.

This summer, think fellowship
The theme for our life groups this summer is "fellowship". The summer is an excellent time for building relationships and enjoying each other! We encourage all life group leaders to look for ways your group can do this. During the summer months, consider having a more relaxed schedule. Below is a list of ideas for things to do with your life group. They can be done instead of, or in addition to, your usual meeting. These are also great opportunities for reaching out to your neighbors, coworkers, etc. - Cookouts
- Community parties
- Picnics
- Flood relief
- Volunteer days with your key partner
- Watch a film and discuss
- Game nights
- Fight nights for the guys (Watching a UFC fight on TV)
- Go to a sports game together
- Go on a trip together (camping, vacation, amusement parks, etc.)
- Pool parties
- Hold your meeting at the park
- Biking, canoeing, hiking, rock climbing, etc.
