San Francisco Sets the Bar for
Sustainable Food Policy

Earlier this month, Mayor Gavin Newsome of San Francisco issued an executive order which enacted the country's most significant set of policies to promote the consumption of sustainable and local food. It's an ambitious step by a very progressive food city and helps set the bar for Chicago and other aspiring green and cities to match. It includes programs to promote local food production and consumption by the city, local businesses, and consumers, providing more access to healthy food in communities lacking it, and encouraging private business to create new or expanded operations to capitalize on the demand for local food.
