Evangelists Arrested at Mosque Prepare For Trial

Masjid Al Jamia mosque in PhiladelphiaThe evangelists that were arrested this past Fourth of July weekend while preaching Christ at one of Philadelphia's largest mosques will stand trial on Friday, November 12, 2010.

As outlined in Repent America's (RA) recent news release, on the night of July 3rd, Michael Marcavage of RA and evangelist Ken Fleck had been arrested outside of the "Masjid Al Jamia" after being told that they could not preach on the public sidewalk. Marcavage and Fleck pled "not guilty" to the trumped-up charges of "disorderly conduct" and "obstructing highways and other public passages" during their arraignment on July 6, 2010. Their initial trial on August 10, 2010 was delayed at the request of Assistant District Attorney Steven Dickinson, who moved the court for a continuance, stating that at least two hours were needed to present the prosecution's lengthy "case" against the evangelists.

Please pray that Marcavage and Fleck will be completely vindicated of the charges, and consider attending the trial as a demonstration of your support. The court will convene before Judge Marsha Neifield on Friday, November 12th at 10:30 a.m. on the second floor of the Philadelphia Community Courthouse, 1401 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102.

Witnessing in 'Witch City'

Street Preaching in SalemOn October 30 and 31, RA preached the Biblical message of repentance in the city of Salem, Massachusetts, also known as "Witch City," during its annual month-long Halloween festival called "Haunted Happenings."

News reports estimate that approximately 70,000 people packed the streets of Salem on Halloween, many of which exhibited their animosity toward the preaching of the Word of God. It was clear that men loved darkness rather than light as they wildly and unashamedly flaunted their lawless deeds. Nonetheless, the ministry was thankful for the opportunity to again present the good news of Jesus Christ in one of the cities in America that is in most desperate need of the Gospel.

Repent America's Campus Tour Exposes Reality of Abortion

RA conducted its annual Pennsylvania Campus Tour October 18 through 25, 2010, proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to thousands of youth while exposing the reality of abortion on college campuses throughout the state. The student turnout during this year's tour was excellent as large crowds gathered to listen to the preaching, especially at the West Chester, Kutztown and Bloomsburg campuses.

Although a number of students mocked the proclamation of the Gospel, many engaged RA in thoughtful discussion about the issues of morality and abortion. Additionally, a student at Kutztown University sent RA the following supportive e-mail: "I am so glad you visit schools, despite all the negativity thrown your way from the majority of college kids. I quite enjoyed hearing someone preach to us. So, thank you."

Click here to view RA's 2010 Pennsylvania Campus Tour photo album, and pray that the seeds that were planted in the lives of the students will result in a harvest of salvation for many souls.

Outrage Turns Into Outcry at 'OutFest'

On October 10, 2010, RA returned to minister the Word of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ at Philadelphia's annual celebration of homosexuality called "OutFest."

This year, the ministry was blessed to watch God move in the hearts of men despite much open perversion and hatred for the Word of God, especially in regard to a particular eventgoer. As the Gospel was being preached, this man became fiercely angry, and also began to scream at RA's Michael Marcavage as he walked through the streets with a sign displaying Proverbs 16:18, "Pride cometh before destruction and a haughty spirit before the fall." Security held the enraged man back, but eventually he made his way through the crowd and aggressively approached Michael. Suddenly, the man broke down in tears, expressing concerns for his salvation! Michael then laid hands on him and prayed, and encouraged him to surrender to Jesus Christ.

RA praises the Lord for this testimony. Please pray that this man will truly repent and believe the Gospel.

Winchester Unconstitutional Ordinance Challenged

The Rutherford Institute has filed a legal challenge on behalf of RA against the City of Winchester, Virginia, regarding the city's unconstitutional noise ordinance, which prohibits sounds that "annoy" or "disturb the comfort" of others.

The case arises from a situation during the 2010 Apple Blossom Festival, in which police officers forced RA to cease using amplification because an individual at the festival was "not comfortable" with the ministry's amplified preaching. According to the police, it is a violation of Winchester City Code to make another person uncomfortable, and law enforcement can shut down amplified free speech even due to a single complaint.

Preach It, Brother!

Go, Stand, Speak VideoRA has written an article about the Biblical and historical roots of street preaching entitled, "Street Preaching: The Public Proclamation of the Gospel." The article explores various street preachers mentioned in Scripture, including Jesus Christ Himself, and features quotes from open-air preachers in world history. Additionally, "Street Preaching: The Public Proclamation of the Gospel" discusses the question, "Is street preaching for today?"
