  Interviewed for Article in WebMD
I was interviewed for a recent article on WebMD about finding consistency in your diet to develop healthy eating habits. You can check out the article here: The-7-habits-of-highly-successful-eaters
   Disordered Eating Among Athletes
Unfortunately disordered eating is becoming more widespread today than it has been in the past. The dedication and discipline that is often displayed by athletes can cause them to walk a thin line between healthy and unhealthy eating habits.

Some risk factors that could lead to disordered eating:
  • Sport body stereotypes
  • Revealing sport attire like crop tops in cheerleading
  • Spandex shorts in volleyball, and leotards in gymnastics
  • Competitive thinness between teammates
  • Misconception that being thin improves performance
Some prevention strategies include de-emphasizing weight by enhancing performance without a focus on weight, and recognizing/applauding individual differences.

Awareness is the first step to changing a behavior!
  Treatment Facility Recommendation
A facility in Lubbock, Texas...

I feel honored to have visited a wonderful facility in Lubbock, Texas recently. If you know anyone who struggles with drug and alcohol addiction or an eating disorder, there are 2 wonderful facilities out there that are individualized and offer a customized, treatment plan. The care and aftercare plan set an individual up for success upon discharge. For more information, check out Ranch 2300 or Ranch at Dove Tree.

  Meet the New Intern
I welcome intern Colleen from the University of Alabama. She will be spending some time this summer offering a fresh perspective and help with projects in my practice.
