Fall is in the Air!
| November 2010 |
Hello!
CRUNCH ~ CRUNCH, the sounds of fall! Do you picture colorful leaves falling and/or the smells of burning leaves along with thoughts of crunching and smelling the tantilizing colorful fruits and vegetables of the season?
It is a great time of year to get outside and enjoy the weather. I hope you are taking some relaxation time. Grab a book and go to the park for a period of time, or take a walk outside and feel the cool breeze in your hair. Recently I went to the lake to spend the weekend. I enjoyed sitting outside on a porch and just watching nature. Make sure you take time to enjoy nature and the changing season, it does wonders for your mental health and attitude.
Healthy Regards, Kathryn Fink, MS, RD, CSSD, LD Nutrition & Fitness Consultant

Flex Spending or Health Care Savings Dollars Flex spending or health care savings dollars are benefits many have available but do not understand or take advantage of this savings.
If you have not elected to utilize flex spending or health care savings dollars and have it available to you, think about utilizing this great advantage when you do re-enrollment.
This is money taken out of your pay before you incur any federal taxes or social security taxes, and is not reported to the IRS. Essentially, this increases your spendable income and decreases your taxable income. If you have elected to use flex spending or health care savings dollars already, many of you have until the end of the year to utilize this amount. Nutrition services by a registered dietitian are covered under most policies. Some accounts have to have a referral from their physician for medical necessity, this could include weight management, lowering cholesterol, disordered eating, etc. Check with your management company to see if there are any special requirements. These accounts allow you to pay for eligible medical expenses with pre-tax dollars. Flex spending or health care savings dollars saves you money by reducing your income taxes and using pre-taxed money for health care expenses.
