Summer Greetings -
We are planning a special event to recognize our ten years of work on the issue of crime victimization of people with developmental disabilities, and soon you will have an opportunity to participate in it. In early September we will go live with an online silent auction comprised of three items: 1) a full or half day training by Nora Baladerian, Ph.D., Director of the Disability, Abuse and Personal Rights Project in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Nora has worked in the area of abuse of people with disabilities since 1972 including authoring several guidebooks for professionals, parents and individuals with disabilities, as well as the chapter on psychotherapy intervention for child crime victims with disabilities in the Standards of Care Guidebook developed by the California Victim's Assistance Programs. Winning bidder may choose from among several training topics; training can be presented in English or Spanish.
2) Responding to Violent Crimes Against Persons with Disabilities - Safeplace's manual for law enforcement, prosecutors, judges and court personnel and a sample pocket card for law enforcement. 3) Conference Registration for the 2012 National Adult Protective Services Association (NAPSA) Conference
Funds raised through this silent auction help support continued publication of this Vulnerability Trail Update newsletter. Look for notice of the online auction being live early next month, and please review your organization's ability to support it. Many thanks!
