Greetings!

Last week, Calvary sent out a congregational e-mail informing you of our church's response to the recent tornadoes in Streator and Dwight. If you have had yet had a chance to read this important communication, please do so now.
Late this afternoon, we received word that hands on help is needed in Streator tomorrow (Thursday). A group will be leaving the church at 8:30 am tomorrow morning. All those interested are welcome to come, meet in the Atrium at 8:15 am tomorrow morning. Once in Streator there will be two volunteer opportunities:
-
Streator First United Methodist Church - volunteers will sort through food and drink donations and ready them for distribution in the community.
-
Streator Fire Department - volunteers are needed for general clean up efforts at various locations in the city. Please wear jeans or long pants, work boots and long sleeve shirt (recommended). Also bring a drivers' license - they are running background checks for all volunteers. If you wish to volunteer with the Streator Fire Department beyond tomorrow, you may contact them by phone, 815-257-9911.
The group will return to Calvary by mid-afternoon. If you have time, please consider join this work trip. If you are not able to come, please pause and pray for this group; pray for safety and that through their efforts God's love would be shared with those in Streator.
In His Service,
Josh W. Barnett
Director of Communications
P.S. Much thanks for all of the food, drink and supply donations dropped off at Calvary on Sunday. Each donated item will go a long way in helping the City of Streator and its residents recover from this disaster. |
