NYSPEP & Children and Family Trust Fund:
Funding Opportunity to Support Communities in Implementing the Community Café Model
The New York State Parenting Education Partnership and the New York State Office of Children and Families Services, Children and Family Trust Fund are excited to announce a funding opportunity to support communities in implementing the Community Café model as a tool for strengthening families and building capacity to support healthy families in their community.
Our goal is to promote Community Cafés as a tool to advance family engagement and community level, cross-systems communication with the hope of increasing reciprocity within these relationships, infusing cross-systems learning with parent and caregiver perspective, and building communities' capacity for action that strengthen families.
NYSPEP and the Trust Fund are asking applicants to form community teams comprised of program staff and parent leaders who will send representative to one of the four free regional Community Café Orientations. Funds will support costs associated with program staff and parent leader representatives of Community Teams attending an Orientation. Community Teams will also receive seed funds and technical assistance to support their ability to host Cafés within their respective communities.
One-day Café Orientations (September, 2012) will be held in four locations throughout New York: New York City, Albany, Rochester and Ithaca, and will be facilitated by two members of the national Parent Leadership Team. Orientations will be held in English and Spanish in locations with Spanish speaking participants. Teams are expected to participate in technical assistance both before and after attending an Orientation as well as sharing Harvests from each Café with NYSPEP and other stakeholders. See application for more details:
