Breakthrough Communities Invites You
Anna Deavere Smith
Field Notes: Doing Time In Education
Dear friends and colleagues,
Carl Anthony and Paloma Pavel invite you to join us at a special performance and town hall meeting with award winning-actress and playwright, Anna Deavere Smith, on Sunday, July 13th at 7pm at the Berkeley Repertory Theater. The performance, "Field Notes: Doing Time In Education, The California Chapter" is part of the Alameda County Office of Education's Juvenile Justice in Education Summit.
Registration is limited and the seating is being curated to prioritize students, teachers and families directly involved in the juvenile "justice" system. Register now and your seating will be confirmed next week by organizers.
(See flier below for more details about the performance)
Each day, the lives and future of our youth are at stake. The prison industrial complex, structural racism in our cities, and discrimination are decimating our communities and funneling our youth into prisons. We need all of our youth to build a healthy, just and sustainable future for our communities and our region. Let's commit to creating a pathway forward, please join us in this conversation.
Pre-Theater Gathering: For those who have been confirmed with tickets, we would love to meet up before the theater event for refreshments and conversation. Carl and Paloma will be at the Shattuck Hotel at 5pm: 2086 Allston Way, Berkeley, CA 94704.
