Gracious Father, we pray for your holy Catholic Church. Fill it with all truth, in all truth with all peace. Where it is corrupt, purify it; where it is in error, direct it; where in any thing it is amiss, reform it. Where it is right, strengthen it; where it is in want, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it; for the sake of Jesus Christ your Son our Savior. Amen.
- The Book of Common Prayer, p. 816

The Diocese of Kentucky and TENS invite your vestry and the members of your stewardship ministry team to gather for a "viewing party" of the TENS 2014 Walking the Way Stewardship Conference. Hosting a viewing party of the TENS 2014 Stewardship Conference will catalyze inspiration, ideas, and interest in how your congregation can align stewardship formation with discipleship formation. The Finance and Stewardship Committee has made 10 scholarships available for the individual and small group rate. If you, or a small group within your church, would like to apply for a scholarship please email Canon Jason Lewis at jason@episcopalky.org before registering to ensure availability of diocesan funds. This year, the webcast can be viewed in real time -- or at any time that is convenient for your congregation and or diocese-- from Friday, June 6th (the day the conference begins) to Sunday, June 29th. The conference will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, so all posted keynote and workshop times will be in the East Coast timezone. For all those who wish to view the presentation at a later time, the sessions will be recorded and uploaded for playback to a designated site two hours after the real-time live presentation, and will remain on the designated site through June 29th. Once you register, a link will be sent to you 48 hours prior to the conference, with instructions on how you can test your high speed Internet connection, monitor, and audio on Thursday, June 5th. It is recommended to view the webcast on a projector.
- Individual & Small Group Webcast Registration Rate is $75.00 (A small group is six or fewer viewers)

Summer Camp Registration is Open

Join us for adventure, fun, and Christian community at All Saints Camp as we live out this year's theme, World Cup. Together we will explore what it means to be on God's team, what kind of setbacks God's followers have endured, and how faithful people have been able to overcome the obstacles they've faced.
In addition, we will live in community in a beautiful outdoor setting with new friends and old, and partake in activities such as: music, art, swimming, canoeing, outdoor education, sports and games.
Camp is also a great place for personal development. Campers are able to try new things and to be challenged by new opportunities. Our camp programming helps young people deepen their relationship with Jesus and strengthen their voice as leaders in the community.
To register, visit the Summer Camp webpage. Register soon as spots are going fast!

Financial Hardship Scholarship for Camp
The Diocese of Kentucky is committed to ensuring every young person in the diocese the opportunity to attend camp regardless of financial resources. If parents indicate in their camper's registration that they have a financial hardship or that they are able to only pay the deposit, the Diocesan Office will be contacting their churches to notify them of the request for financial hardship scholarship and what the next steps in the process. Our hope is in such situations that the family can contribute 1/3, the congregation can contribute 1/3, and the diocese can contribute 1/3. Other arrangements will be considered if you are not able to meet that formula.

ECF Vital Practices Vestry Papers
Lessons from a Rookie Treasurer
Life as a church treasurer is tough - I know this. After serving as treasurer for St. Anne's in Ankeny, Iowa from 2002 through 2011, I have an appreciation for the difficulties of the role. During that time, I tried a number of things to make the job easier - mostly because I didn't know what I was doing (my only previous experience before becoming treasurer was balancing my personal checkbook), but also because I knew there had to be easier method.
I'm sharing some of my experience in hopes that it might help other novice treasurers. Read more...

ECF Vital Practices Vestry Papers
Pledging: Should Clergy Know?
My first capital campaign client was a small parish with a beloved rector who had a remarkable "can do" attitude. That is, until I asked him to review the previous year's list of pledges and talk with me about potential ways for improving this parish's giving. He refused; he didn't want to know.
Recently I asked my fellow consulting colleagues at the Episcopal Church Foundation about how much a clergy should know about pledging to both annual and capital campaigns. They responded quickly, offering varying opinions and experiences.
Frankly, what I wanted was a textbook solution to write a pithy article. What emerged was a nuanced conversation---moving away from easy black and white answers. Read more...

Missional leadership development offered to Episcopal clergy
Leaders across churches today face massive challenges on two fronts: understanding a pluralist culture that no longer supports Christian identity and practice; and leading faith communities through processes of learning, adaptation and innovation in mission. Meaningful engagement with complex challenges like these functions best in communities of peers who mutually encourage, support, challenge and deepen one another, while being held accountable to a disciplined structure of action/reflection under the guidance of experienced mentors and coaches.
Thanks to a generous grant from the Mildred Kellogg Trust, Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, is launching a new Missional Leadership Cohort for Episcopal clergy. The Missional Leadership Cohort is a structured learning community that offers teaching, mentorship and accountability for Episcopal church leaders in partnership with committed peers and faculty and staff. It offers the promise of intensive, transformational leadership development for a missionary church with flexibility and accommodation for the demands facing full-time, working clergy. Read more...

Presiding Bishop calls the church to prayer for South Sudan
Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori has called the Episcopal Church to prayer and action for South Sudan.
During the past five months, South Sudan has faced its greatest challenge since becoming the world's newest nation in July 2011, when it seceded from the north in a referendum on independence following almost half a century of civil war.
A separate conflict erupted last December after South Sudan President Salva Kiir accused his sacked former deputy Riek Machar of plotting a coup.
But even as hope emerged on May 9 when the two leaders agreed to a truce and to forming a transitional government ahead of fresh elections, fighting has continued in parts of South Sudan. The humanitarian crisis is vast and the South Sudanese are desperately in need of the world's support. The conflict has left thousands dead and more than 1.2 million people have fled their homes.
