St. George's Community Center Celebrates 50 Years in West Louisville
St. George's Community Center announced they will host the annual 'One May Night' prayer service to celebrate 50 years of youth programming in West Louisville. On May 18, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., leaders from the Episcopal Diocese of Kentucky will join with the community to offer prayers for continued success of the organization.
Today, St. George's thrives as one of the premier youth development agencies in West Louisville. Its programming has transformed the center from a "recreational hangout," where youngsters come for basketball and talent shows, into a thriving and educational environment for the youth of surrounding neighborhoods.
This service will be held at St. George's Episcopal Church, located at 1205 South 26th Street on May 18 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a light reception to follow. The community is encouraged to attend.
The Reverend Charles Tachau, former leader of St. George's Community Center, will be honored at the event. Tachau was instrumental to the reopening of the Center in 1964 and remains to be a positive influence on the success of the community center.
Founded in 1964, St. George's Community Center offers several afterschool programs designed to prepare West Louisville youth in grades 4-12 for college and post secondary endeavors. Their mission is to launch youth into flights of self-discovery by impacting their lives for the benefit of the community. www.stgeorgeslouisville.episcopalky.org

Diocese serves 5,020 people over 2,760 hours during Lent
Over the last month since the previous report, Episcopalians who are participating in the diocese's Tend My Sheep service challenge performed 2,760 hours of service involving 5,020 people. To date, a total of 6,002.5 hours have been reported and 11,486 people served.
Twenty-two of the diocese's 36 parishes are participating in the service challenge, issued by the diocese's deacons last November at the diocesan convention. The majority of parishes, however, began participating during Lent. The initiative is designed to inspire, support, document and report acts of outreach and loving service to our neighbors. It asks members give one hour per week (or four to five hours per month) for 50 weeks.
If you haven't already joined the challenge, it's not too late. Read more...

Summer Camp: World Cup

Join us for adventure, fun, and Christian community at All Saints Camp as we live out this year's theme, World Cup. Together we will explore what it means to be on God's team, what kind of setbacks God's followers have endured, and how faithful people have been able to overcome the obstacles they've faced.
In addition, we will live in community in a beautiful outdoor setting with new friends and old, and partake in activities such as: music, art, swimming, canoeing, outdoor education, sports and games.
Camp is also a great place for personal development. Campers are able to try new things and to be challenged by new opportunities. Our camp programming helps young people deepen their relationship with Jesus and strengthen their voice as leaders in the community. Come join us!
