Diocese Records 3,242 Hours of Service in Tend My Sheep Challenge
"Tend my sheep," Jesus told his followers, and Episcopalians in our diocese, responding to a challenge from the deacons, are doing just that in their communities. Since the challenge was issued at convention in November, they have recorded 3,242 hours of service to 6,466 people.
To date, 22 churches, most joining since January, and the diocesan staff are participating in the deacon's "Tend My Sheep: 2014 Loving Service initiative." The initiative is designed to inspire, support, document and report acts of outreach and loving service to our neighbors. Together during the upcoming church year, the deacons hope to collectively record one half million hours of service to our neighbors. Although this number sounds astounding, it requires only that each of our church members give one hour per week (or four to five hours per month) for 50 weeks.
The brainchild of Deacon Mary Abrams, chair of the diocese's Peace and Justice Division, "Tend My Sheep" was conceived to encourage us as Christians to keep our focus outward and not inward, especially important at this time when many of our parishes are in transition. Read more...

Christ Church, Bowling Green Rector Publishes Children's Book
The Rev. Michael Blewett, rector of Christ Church, Bowling Green, has published a children's book called God's Best Day. The book tells the story of a God who made everything that is and loves everything that is. That same God also desires to be loved back. From the very beginning of time, to the very beginning of every day, love is what God is all about. As you come to the end of the story, you will see how all the love God gave came right back to Him in one, unexpected moment on God's best day.
God's Best Day has been released nationally in softcover, hardback, ebook and audio versions in all major venues. It is available for purchase here.
Makes a great Easter gift!

All Invited to Special Liturgy
As Holy Week approaches, it is the custom of the Church for the clergy to gather with the bishop for the renewal of ordination vows and the blessing of holy oils. All are welcome to attend this eucharistic liturgy, commonly called the "chrism mass." It is also an appropriate time to pray for all deacons, priests, and bishops as they renew their commitment to God and to God's people as disciples of the one who came to serve, not to be served.
Bishop Terry will celebrate the liturgy and preach at two locations:
- Wednesday, April 9 at 11:15 am at Christ Church Cathedral, Louisville
- Thursday, April 10 at 11:15 am at Grace Church, Hopkinsville
