Bishop White's Message Concerning The Bombing of All Saints Anglican Church In Peshawar, Pakistan
My sisters and brothers,

As we lift our cries to God following the bombing at All Saints Anglican Church, Peshawar, Pakistan, I commend to you a prayer written by Father Lyndon Harris (who was vicar of St. Paul's Chapel, Trinity Wall Street on September 11, 2001) being used at our gathering of the House of Bishops in Nashville. The images we have seen, and the stories we have heard from those on the scene at All Saints, are breaking our hearts.  I second the Presiding Bishop's statement that "this act of violence is a reminder of the preciousness and fragility of life, and of our interconnectedness.  We are all wounded, we have all lost family, friends, and fellow citizens of the world." As we pray for the dead and injured, the grieving and the angry, and the many first responders and clergy in Peshawar who are exhausted in body and spirit, may we also recommit to being servants of the Prince of Peace.

O God, our times are in your hand.  In the midst of uncertainty lead us by your never-failing grace as we seek to be agents of healing and hope.  Walk with us through difficult times; watch over us in danger; and give to us a spirit of love and compassion for those who suffer and mourn.  And finally remind us that you have promised never to leave us so that even in the valley of the shadow of death your love may be felt, through Jesus Christ our Lord.  AMEN.

Faithfully yours in the Prince of Peace,

+Terry
