News from the Chiang Rai Village Project
While our staff have been working hard over the summer updating beneficiary children's files, meeting families and stakeholders, overseeing the renovations in schools and set up of new facilities such as the Health Post in Huay Kuk, and meeting with school staffs and local government authorities for the planning of upcoming projects, our Professional School students in Chiang Rai have been busy renovating the dormitory facilities provided by the Foundation. We firmly believe in the importance of fostering independence and ownership in our beneficiaries' own educational journey, particularly amongst teenagers and young adults in Professional Schools. This includes helping to maintain their schools and dormitories in good conditions and using part of their holidays to help in the renovation work. Students have volunteered to help clean and upgrade their dormitory facilities built by the Pistorio Foundation at the professional school in Chiang Rai. Students have repainted dorm rooms, helped repave some areas, cleaned the premises and outdoor common areas, and helped build a shelter for drying their clothes. The Foundation has supplied materials and some professional work, but most of the work was carried out by our enthusiastic, capable, and energetic students.
Well done!

Singapore Volunteer Mission Trip to Chiang Rai
This month a group of nine volunteers from Singapore, led by Sheryl Teo of Intel Singapore, will be traveling on a mission to Chiang Rai to impart English and Computer skills to Primary, Secondary and Professional School students supported by the Foundation. The volunteers have been preparing for months, liaising with our local staff in Chiang Rai, organizing age appropriate lesson plans, obtaining sponsorships for supplies in Singapore, and detailing fun filled as well as educational activities for our beneficiaries. This is the second mission trip for Intel Singapore to our projects in Chiang Rai. At the same time, they are raising funds to support the beneficiaries in the village of Ban Mhai Pattana' where they will be staying.
You can support their efforts by making a donation, no matter how small every donation is valuable for our beneficiaries and 100% will be directly devolved to the scholarship fund. The volunteer missions are a great opportunity for students to participate in English language full immersion lessons. They also have a chance to meet enthusiastic volunteers from different cultures to which they would otherwise have little if any exposure in remote mountain villages. It is therefore an enriching experience both academically and culturally. Professional school students also receive guidance and mentorship on career choices and how to set targets to achieve their professional goals.
Below are photos of activities led by volunteers at their last mission trip with primary school hill-tribe children.

The Pistorio Foundation is a not for profit charity organization dedicated to improving the living conditions of underprivileged children in developing countries, with a focus on education. In addition to providing long-term scholarships and primary health care, the Foundation builds and improves school infrastructures. As per our village model, once the children of a given village are given access to education and primary health care, we address issues of women empowerment and community development through adult education, training in agriculture, and sustainable solutions to increase their income earning capabilities. To date we support the long-term education and health of over 1,500 children in four countries: Burkina Faso, Morocco, Thailand, and Cambodia.
The Foundation operates through a network of volunteers in close partnership with selected NGOs. We currently operate with no overhead costs: 100% of all donations and resources go directly to projects on location to benefit the children we support. The Pistorio Foundation has no political or religious affiliation.
