Greetings!

It's been said that summer vacation is the time when parents realize that teachers are grossly undervalued! In fact, effectively attending to the needs of young people and rearing them in the way that they should go require great stores of patience, caring attitudes and effective tools.

To make the work of educators easier and more productive, the CEEE offers those tools, providing training and pedagogical materials in the content teachers need. To encourage students to grab hold of that instruction, we also offer a bounty of purposeful learning opportunities, inviting students to compete and be recognized for progress made.

Take a look at what we've accomplished together this past spring in that regard.  With the help of dedicated community partners, we continue to provide a strong network of educational support, promoting collaboration and inviting idea shari
ng.

Thank you for your part in helping us do what we do. Good, engaging learning will stand the test of time-- with your support, that learning will continue.

Teach Children to Save Poster Contest
In April, hundreds of banking professionals visited 65 public, private and parochial elementary schools throughout Delaware where they taught more than 6,500 students about how communities grow when people save money in local banks. The event was part of the 16th annual Teach Children to Save Day (TCTSD), a partnership between the CEEE and the Delaware Bankers Association. Since 2001, the CEEE has been organizing and preparing volunteer bankers to visit elementary classrooms on TCTSD to promote the importance of saving and making informed spending decisions.

Fourth grader T.J. Blessington from St. Mary Magdalen School took first place in the TCTSD contest in which more than 200 students designed posters with logos and slogans to encourage their peers to save. T.J.'s entry, "Saving is like building a bridge. It takes time but it can happen!" won a $100 cash prize. Second-place winners Sophie Stankova and Charlotte Kohn, also from St. Mary Magdalen, each received a $50 cash award.

Congratulations to T.J., Sophie and Charlotte for their creative reminders to develop an early habit of saving.
