Glass case for RISD Museum's Japanese Palanquin
Grand Openings
RISD Museum - Sixth Floor Galleries
The renovated galleries on the sixth floor of the RISD Museum re-opened with a gala event on June 10th,  including a speech by Governor Lincoln Chafee.  SmallCorp, in collaboration with the fabulous team at the RISD Museum, Stephen Saitas Designs and Anita Jorgenson, lighting consultant, created a variety of microclimate cases to house the museum's Asian art, Egyptian art, and Costume and Textile collections. Among the cases are three sealed and lighted glass cases large enough to walk inside (two of them are pictured above). Initial reviews  are fantastic.  Read more and view additional photos of the galleries here.

Deerfield's Memorial Hall - Van and Molly update
As many of you know, day to day management of SmallCorp has been transitioning from our founders Molly and Van to their son Hoyt and his wife Jen.  It's a multi-year process, and it's been going quite well.  After decades of vacationing for no more than three days at a time, Van and Molly have more recently been able to spend summers in Maine. In fact, that's where they are now - distant, but not disconnected.  We'll see them back here in the fall.

Always community-minded, Van and Molly donated a great deal of their time last winter volunteering at nearby Memorial Hall in Deerfield, MA, one of America's oldest museums. Their responsibilities included everything from identifying and cataloging thousands of objects to replacing and sprucing up casework, exhibits and lighting.  The museum re-opened for the summer Friday, June 13.  If you're in western Massachusetts, please stop in for a visit.

Glass Cases - You Asked, We Listened

Over the years we've been asked about glass cases many times. After much research and  development we can now make a frameless glass case that not only looks great, but is well-sealed to protect sensitive objects. We recently made two cases like the one below and shipped them to the Wilderness Lodge at Walt Disney World, where they will house Native American headdresses.  Next time you're thinking about ordering a high-end glass case from Europe, consider buying one that's made right here in the USA with sustainable energy.
