expands Internship Program
Funding from the United Way of Grayson County has made it possible to launch a new internship program. Master level interns who are clinically supervised by licensed supervisors provide outpatient mental healthcare to clients at the Center and offsite at the Grayson County Shelter, Greater Texoma Health Clinic, North Texas Youth Connection Shelter and the Crisis Center.
Left to Right: Rachel Carey, Master Level Intern, Dr. Amy Ott, LPC Supervisor, Antoinette Mitchell, LPC Intern, Rebecca Houser, LPC Intern, Susan Miles, LPC Intern, John Trader, LPC Intern, Jeanne Goodner, LPC Supervisor
The grant from United Way of Grayson County is a great start to funding the program. We are seeking additional funding to continue to expand the program. Through the Family Empowerment Program, interns provide FREE services to parents helping them better understand their child's diagnosis/problems as well as provide tools for parents to gain new skills to improve family functioning. Interns are facilitating existing groups and developing new groups to better serve our community.
Licensed Interns hold a masters degree and temporary license from the State of Texas. They are required to earn 3000 hours of field time which is earned whiled providing services at CFGC.
CFGC is extremely grateful to the United Way of Grayson County for providing seed money to launch this program.
