Demolition of the
Michels/Carey House

The month of June was a buzz of anxious excitement due to highlights such as the Old House Fair and SOHO's Walk on the Exposition Side Centennial Tour Weekend, but also disheartening due to the 5pm Friday demolition of the Michels-Carey House at 2004 El Cajon Blvd. SOHO's June Preservation Action Committee (PAC) discussed next steps to be taken for the callous demolition of this early LGBTQ site, celebrated a new designation at the San Diego Historical Resources Board, the Luscomb Building at 1769 San Diego Avenue, and the upcoming 50 year celebration anniversary of the National Historic Preservation Act. Read more

Here's to your favorite craft brew! At the 1915 Panama-California Exposition, breweries were among the food and beverage makers vying for prestigious medals, in a building where the Casa de Balboa now stands. Beer trays have been the vehicle for stylish and collectible advertising since the late 1880s. This commemorative tray, which toasts the California Building in its idyllic park setting, is a blend of original and new design using an original advertisement. Acme was the 1st place winner of the Exposition's beer competition.

Matching pilsner glasses are of nice quality with a good feel in the hand for your favorite refreshment and features both the Acme ad with the California Tower and the Exposition's official seal in bright vibrant colors.

14" beer tray, enamel on tin - $24.95
Pint size glass - $11.99 each
