The delivery of medical and dental care I suppose is forever changed. Efficiency seems more important than effectiveness, lower cost is more important than higher quality, increased access is more important than accessibility to your personal doctor, and increased numbers of auxiliary personnel is more important than increased personal individual care to properly diagnose a potentially more unique problem. We experienced this with our own children.
My wife is a nurse, and between the two of us, we were so frustrated finding the right medical care for our son and daughter who had problems that were not "run of the mill." It was truly maddening. Thank God, they are so much better; but, that was after we had bounced from doctor to doctor to find the right one who was knowledgeable enough and patient enough to get down to the root of their unique problems.
I am here to tell you that the delivery of dental care is moving in the same direction as medical care. This saddens me greatly. We have seen the effects already. We have patients coming back to our practice to tell us of how they were cared for elsewhere.
