The Changing Dental Offices
Many things are changing in this life. One of the many is that of the delivery of dental care.

Nowadays, dental care can be delivered to you from a private practitioner, from a group practice, from a chain of dental clinics, and from a retail-type practice owned by a non-practicing dentist. Does this really matter?

Well, I wish I could say "no". However, each of the methods of delivery differs. Some have a high turnover of staff and dentists, some have a practicing dentist who does not have a direct vested interest in the practice or the patients, some employ dentists who have no ownership position in the practice, some have stockholders who expect a return on their investment, and others have additional layers of ownership who expect also a return on their investment. As a result, motivations vary, dedication to quality varies, and dedication to profit margins vary. Patients may not even be aware of the practice being a traditional practice or not.

Lately we have had way too many patients coming to my office for a second opinion. One child was planned by one practice to have seven fillings placed; when she saw us we recommended only two fillings. Another patient was planned by another practice to obtain over $6000 of dental work; we found the need for perhaps less than $400. Low fees may be an enticement but that does not mean it will cost less

We value the trust you all have in us. We do not take that lightly. We have a sincere interest in assisting patients to save money in the long-run. We can save patients thousands of dollars over time. We do this with a great sense of responsibility and humility. We value you, your mouths, and your presence. Thank you again for your trust!

March 2014

This is the Eve of March Madness, the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. For those who know me well, I love this event. If you want to register your bracket on my online group, feel free to do so on ESPN, under the group name Venincasa. The entry is free; the fun is priceless. I will gift the winner with a free Sonicare toothbrush.

Now on to other things. We hope you enjoyed your Spring Breaks. For those without children I am sure you noticed at least perhaps an easier drive to work and back home.

Speaking of easier, we do continually try to make it easier to communicate and work with us. If you need us to enhance your experience with us in this way please reach out to us. We do want to fully satisfy each one of you. We value you and your presence. We truly do.

We continue to value your kind referrals of friends, coworkers, and family. We are ever so grateful as well for your kind online reviews. Thank you so much.
Laser Dentistry
Enhancing Quality and Service
Lasers have been in use in medicine for over 40 years. They were introduced into dentistry in the 1980's. We have waited for the technology and the science to evolve. We now have available for our patients laser dentistry. We see how this technology can enhance quality of care and it enhances our mix of services for you. We will provide more information on this to you in the near future. We are very excited to provide this level of care within our office.

Signs That You May Need a Root Canal
Some Honest Information
One of the most requested online questions in dentistry these days is whether someone needs a root canal treatment or not. In response to this requested information we have dedicated some posts on our website to this subject.

Simply because a patient has symptoms does not mean that a root canal treatment is needed. There may be other problems with the same symptoms. If you have an interest in finding out more about this, as many others do online at this time, we invite you to follow this link.
