Veterinary Student Engagement System Launches
Each step in the decision-making process on the path to becoming a veterinarian has its own questions and issues. A high school student might have different information needs than a parent or a person who is ready to apply to veterinary medical school. For that reason, the AAVMC recently created the Veterinary Student Engagement System (VSES) to engage prospective veterinarians and other admissions and recruitment stakeholders in targeted ways. Task Force to Evaluate Potential Faculty Fellows Program
The AAVMC has established a task force to evaluate the possibility of developing an AAVMC Faculty Fellows program that would provide participating faculty members with training and practical experience in leadership, public policy development and service. The idea emerged in recognition of the important role advocacy plays in academic veterinary medicine and the profession it serves, as well as the success of similar programs the AVMA operates for practitioners and emerging professionals. Using Data in Your Professional Life
Acquiring, analyzing and adding value to data in a manner that strengthens academic veterinary medicine is a core function of the AAVMC. The AAVMC annually gathers data representing veterinary student faculty, students and applicants from our 28 operational colleges of veterinary medicine as part of the Annual Data Report. This information informs decision-making and policy development for our members, and it helps others understand our modern operating environment.  This month we take a look at our faculty data.
