At Taylored Expressions, we love learning new and unexpected ways to use our products. Today we are excited to share with you some terrific tips and tricks for stamping with our popular Simply Stamped line of products! Join Creative Team member Jean Manis as she shows us how to combine TE Matched Premium Ink in beautiful color palettes to create gorgeous projects.

Layered stamping is a timeless technique that can create incredible visual dimension. The keys to success are high-quality stamps and inks used alongside a stamping tool (such as a MISTI or a Stamp-a-Ma-Jig). Below, Jean shares step-by-step instructions on how to ink and stamp in layers for stunning results.

Jean used our Simply Stamped - Leaves for today's tutorial and a MISTI tool.

Step 1: To begin, ink the maple leaf solid stamp with the lightest ink color. (Here, Jean used TE's Candy Corn Premium Ink) and stamp on Sugar Cube Cardstock. Remove the stamped panel and set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the MISTI for using rubber stamps by attaching an image pad. Secure a quilter's plastic template or similar tool (such as the image pad from a Stamp-a-Ma-Jig) to the base of the MISTI with removable tape. Next, ink the first 'detail' stamp using Cherry Pop Premium Ink and stamp on the image pad.

Step 3: Position the previously stamped solid image under the image pad and secure it with magnets. Flip the image pad out of the way. Ink the first detail stamp again using Cherry Pop ink and stamp onto the solid maple leaf.

Step 4: Clean the image pad. Ink and stamp the second detail stamp and stamp onto image pad using Mulled Wine Premium Ink.

Step 5: Re-position the stamped panel beneath the image pad and secure with magnets.

Step 6: Flip the image pad out of the way and re-ink the second detail stamp with Mulled Wine. (Tip: always stamp from lightest shade to darkest shade.)

Finished Image: The image is now ready to be die-cut!
