At Taylored Expressions, we love to learn new techniques, polish up on old favorites, and be inspired by the creativity of designers from around the crafting world.
Today we have a fun tutorial from Taylored Expressions Blog team member,
Amy Sheffer
, who shares how to create darling Photo Shaker Ornaments!

Amy created these sweet photo shaker ornaments using our Snow Globe Die die set. This versatile set consists of a base die (to create solid die-cuts) as well as an inner window portion to create a snow globe-shaped frame.

Begin by die-cutting your photograph, a card stock back, and a window out of acetate. To create a solid base, separate the inner window portion of the Snow Globe die.

Adhere the photograph to the card stock back piece. Set aside.

To create a frame or window, position the inner portion of the die within the snow globe base. Die-cut the frame.

Cut several additional frame pieces using the snow globe base with the window cut-out positioned inside. (You'll layer these together with liquid adhesive to build depth inside the window for your sequins, glitter, beads, or whatever other shaker material you choose to use.)
Amy used three layers of thin chipboard for each ornament. You may also use cardstock, making sure to die-cut enough pieces to accommodate your shaker material.

Die-cut a snow globe frame from patterned paper. This is your decorative top. Tie a hanging loop and bow onto the decorative top frame.

Adhere the acetate layer to stacked snow globes. Set aside.

Place shaker filling on photograph layer. Adhere acetate/stacked snow globes layer to photograph layer, being careful to keep shaker filling within the window.

Adhere decorative top layer. Embellish.

Amy's tip: trim a narrow strip of cardstock and adhere to the sides of the frame to give the ornament a finished look.

Thank you so much, Amy, for sharing such a wonderful way to capture special moments and share holiday joy.
