The challenges in selecting  business software continue to evolve and change. Some of my thoughts on buying business software are outlined below in a Sandhill article.

Amazon has added corporate email to their offerings and I've included some good information on that below. They now have an excellent suite of basic enterprise collaboration applications.

Myths and Misconceptions that Business Software Buyers Need to Understand  
   
Sandhill.com has published my views on some of the myths and misconceptions that business software buyers need to understand. Check out my thoughts here. 
Amazon Email? 
Amazon Web Services continues to add to their offerings with the addition of corporate email. Ben Kepes at Forbes does a good job of describing this service and the strategy. This offer along with Amazon Workspaces for Remote Desktop and Amazon Zocalo for file sharing provide a strong basic IT application suite for enterprises. This should be a great opportunity for Amazon and if nothing else make sure that Microsoft and others are competitive in this area.
