2014 Health Assessment Update
As of February 21, 24.05% of our synod's ELCA-Primary plan members and their eligible spouses have taken the Mayo Clinic Health Assessment. Last year we had 78.63% participation in our synod. In order to earn our 2% discount on ELCA health contributions this year, we need 108 more people to take the assessment.

2014 Southeastern Iowa Synod Assembly
Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton will serve as the churchwide representative, both providing updates and stories of the work we do together as the ELCA and overseeing the election of the bishop. In addition, Bishop Eaton will preach at the Service of Holy Communion on Sunday, June 1 at 10:30 a.m. The 2014 Southeastern Iowa Synod Assembly will be held on Friday, May 30 to Sunday, June 1 at the Marriott Hotel and Convention Center in Coralville, IA. The assembly will gather under the theme "Led by the Spirit."

Relief for Displaced in South Sudan
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) will provide $700,000 in humanitarian assistance to help support those affected by the violence in South Sudan. The funds will be disbursed through Lutheran Disaster Response-International to The Lutheran World Federation.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs estimates that more than 860,000 people have been displaced as a result of the fighting that began in December between government forces and rebels. Keep reading...
