Lutheran Day on the Hill

On March 10 Lutherans from all over the state of Iowa will descend on the State Capitol Building in Des Moines to speak with one voice on behalf of the poor and disadvantaged in our state and in our communities. Lutheran Day on the Hill is an event held every March and is organized in partnership with the three Iowa Synods of the ELCA and Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI). Keep reading...

ELCA Malaria Campaign

As of February 1 the Southeastern Iowa Synod has raised $670,000 for the ELCA Malaria Campaign! The Synod SWAT Team is ready and eager to help congregations participate in this campaign. We are still working towards reaching our synod's goal of 100% participation from congregations.

World Malaria day is April 25 and the ELCA is encouraging all congregations to set aside April 27 as World Malaria Sunday.

Offerings from World Malaria Sunday will support the Lutheran Malaria Program in Namibia, which is about launch.

Into the Wild: A Lenten Liturgy and Intergenerational Study on Hunger

This five-part program follows the story of Jesus' temptation in the wilderness and explores what it means to live out our faith in a world of hunger, suffering and hope. How does faith move Lutherans to respond to human needs, especially hunger? Each session is divided into small-group and large-group settings and can be adapted to fit your congregation's educational forums, workshops and mid-week gatherings. Download and print this resource along with a family discussion guide.

Act 2Day 4Tomorrow
act2day4tomorrow

This overnight program brings youth together to learn about the role they can play in eradicating hunger and poverty in the world. As the group takes part in the spiritual practice of fasting during the event, they will go through activities and times of reflection centered on seven faith practices. Each activity is designed for "in the moment" learning and reflection to help youth apply what they discover in their own congregations and communities. Order this free resource for the next youth lock-in. Order
