The Candidacy Committee for this synod approved 8 candidates for rostered leadership in the ELCA. Those approved for assignment and ordination pending receipt of a call are: Sarah Aasheim, Christine Cowen, Patrick Fish, Brian Jack, Michelle Kanzaki, Martha McCreight, Amy Waelchli, and Christine Anderson Webb. In addition, Heidi Larson was approved for consecration and assignment as a diaconal minister also pending receipt of a call. The Southeastern Iowa Synod continues to raise up quality leaders to serve on the rosters of this church for which the whole Church is grateful and gives thanks.

The IRA Charitable Rollover allows individuals aged 70 1/2 and older to donate up to $100,000 from their individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) to public charities. The donation can count toward the annual minimum required distribution and is not included in your taxable income. The window of opportunity to make a charitable contribution through your IRA ends December 31, 2013. Through this provision, Americans have made millions of dollars of new contributions to nonprofits.
