ELCA Malaria Campaign Over Halfway to Goal
 The Members, congregations and synods of the ELCA have given more than $8.4 million to support the ELCA Malaria Campaign. Thank you! This brings us over halfway to our goal of $15 million by 2015. There is still more work to be done to end Malaria. Here are some helpful tools to keep you updated on current news related to the Malaria Campaign as well as materials for use in congregations.

Fifth Hope for the Hungry Gathering: November 16, 2013
The fifth Hope for the Hungry Gathering will be Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 9am -3pm with registration at 8:30 am. This year's theme is: Feed - Empower - Advocate. The event will take place at St. John's Lutheran Church in Des Moines, IA (600 6th Avenue). The keynote speaker will be Susan Robers, JD, MS, RD. She is a Fellow that is supported by the WK Kellogg Foundation and the Partnership for a Healthier America, Washington, DC.
Luncheon will be prepared and served by the Connection Cafe. All proceeds from free-will offering will go to this downtown Des Moines cafe to provide free lunches to low-income people. Field experts, exhibitors, book seller, panel discussions, opportunities for networking, will add depth and breadth to the day. The day will conclude with a drawing for prizes donated by food-related and health organizations. The event is sponsored by the Des Moines Area Coalition in Support of Hungry Children.
