Greetings!
With fall just around the corner, the lazy days of summer are becoming a distant memory.
September is a time to get back to into a routine, whether it is taking your child to child care for the first time or siblings going off to school. As parents we send our children off with mixed feelings of joy and a hint of sadness that our wee ones are growing up.
Autumn is the best time for hikes whether in the country or city. The inner artists of all ages can enjoy looking at a beautiful landscape filled with rich colours or create their own masterpiece with the following leaf crafts:
Leaf Prints:
take a leaf and dip it into the orange or yellow paint and press it into a brown paper.
Leaf Rubbings: put the leaf under a white piece of paper and hold the paper firmly with your hand and take a crayon and rub it over the paper where the leaf is placed.
Leaf sorting:
sort the leaves that you have collected by size, shape and colour.
Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower. - Albert Camus
This month, the children will be "visiting" Germany and celebrating Oktoberfest. Wee Watch children will have fun making Bavarian Hats, Windmill crafts and enjoying a taste of German foods.
In October, children will be taking part in "Children's Book" week. It's "off to see the Queen of England" at a Royal Tea Party and creating their own "Toilet Paper Roll Crowns". Throughout the week they will be reading and sharing their favourite books.
Take every opportunity you have to tell family and friends that you are thankful, blessed and grateful for all the memories and treasured time you have spent together and looking forward to many more.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Sincerely,
Leslie Wilson
