Four Raider Soccer Players Get Conference All-star Kudos
Atanda, Cole & Pinheiro Make All-Cascade Conference

"Thanks to your generous support, I am the first in my family to pursue a college education. Growing up in a less privileged community has not only offered financial and academic challenges, but it has more importantly, made me realize the value of a college education. Support like yours will help get me one step closer to my dream career.

Honors College Scholars Give Back
Forty-seven Honors College Scholars traveled to Portland and participated in the Table For Two event held at Freeman Motor Company. Approximately 1,000 participants collectively packaged 260,000 meal packs (each containing beans, rice, soy, and vitamins).  Half of the food went to the Oregon Food Bank and half went to Rwanda.

SOU students and Honors College Scholars continue to show dedication to the community through various service-learning projects. In addition to working hard in the classroom and participating in a unique Community Partner Mentor Program, Honors Scholars at SOU participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities that supplement their education with experiences off campus.

"Some people are surprised when they hear that I spent my Saturday morning picking up trash on the freeway," said Southern Oregon University sophomore Kate Monchamp," because they can't see how that is connected to my education, but it's exactly the type of community service work we do as Honors College Scholars."
