Quote of the Day

"Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future."

For most companies, this time of year is consumed by planning for the year to come. Goals are created, expectations are set, growth opportunities are brainstormed, and budgets are pieced together.
Surprisingly, with all the foresight and optimism that tends to surround their vision of the upcoming year, many companies can be downright myopic when it comes to their marketing communications plan. In this edition of the "Marketing Mix," we urge you to not make this mistake. Marketing and growth are mutually beneficial, not mutually exclusive. If you aim high with your marketing goals, it will make your lofty plans for increased profit and growth that much more attainable.

Photo Gallery - Next Step at K 2013
Last month, from October 16-23 in Dusseldorf, Germany, Next Step represented five of its clients at the K Show, the world's largest trade show for the plastics industry.
K 2013 attracted almost 220,000 visitors over eight days to Messe Dusseldorf.
Thanks to the MS Scenic Sapphire, docked in the Rhine River across from the fairgrounds - Next Step's temporary home during the K Show.
Next Step managed the design and installation of Kortec Inc.'s booth, which drew big crowds throughout the show and featured oversized billboard-style backlit graphics.
Next Step arranged at-booth interviews for its clients with leading industry media. Greg and Mitch Hannoosh organized and attended over 20 press meetings in four days.
Wittmann Battenfeld held a press conference on the opening day of K 2013 - here Michael Wittmann and Georg Tinschert speak before a packed room of reporters and editors.
No K Show is complete without enjoying Dusseldorf's Altstadt after hours with friends!

Editorial: Boston Strong Over $71 Million Raised for Marathon Bombing Victims
In our last issue of 'Spreading the Word', I wrote about the April 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, which struck a devastating blow to the victims, the city, and the entire region. The bombings were personal for me and everyone from this area. At that time, I asked you to consider making a donation to One Fund Boston, (www.onefundboston.org), a fund that provides 100% of proceeds to the Marathon victims and their families.
Next Step contributed to the One Fund at that time, and I'm happy to announce we will be making another donation to the fund over the upcoming holiday season. For an impressive update on the One Fund's success, click here:

Sox Win - and Next Step Was There! |
Greg and Mitch grinning as the World Series Champion Red Sox celebrate in the background
|
Baseball, and the Boston Red Sox, have been a lifelong passion for me. So when Game 6 of the World Series came around on October 30th at Fenway Park, a dream was about to come true. Not only were the Red Sox about to beat St. Louis at home, the first World Series win in Boston since 1918 - I had tickets, and was actually going to be there to see it. So many emotions came out that night - Mitch and I were lucky to be a part of it all. The electric atmosphere and sheer joy of everyone there was something I'll likely not experience again. Congratulations, Sox - and thank you for remembering to give back to the city and its people. Whether they won the World Series or not, the team and its players cared and worked tirelessly to help the Marathon victims and keep the cause in the public eye. That they won the Series was even more unbelievable - a last place team in 2012, winning it all one year later! |
