News from Metropolitan Interiors
Greetings,
It's SPRING! Although it's taking its time arriving in Minnesota this year, it WILL eventually bring us new energy and a fresh perspective.
I'm getting a West Coast perspective right now in Laguna Beach. Besides working on upgrades to the beach condo, I've also made some great connections with art galleries, visited with friends, met some great new people, and I hope to get down to the beach before the week is over! Make sure you like us on Facebook so you can see photos and updates I'm posting for you while I'm here.
I had the fortunate opportunity last month to gain a worldly perspective, traveling to Israel. Love the culture there. I got lots of design ideas, traveling to Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Caesarea, and Golan Heights. It was great bonding time with my kids Rebecca and Max. And as promised, I have much to share with you from my interview with artist Udi Merioz ( below).
Also in this issue, take a look at how new window treatments can change the view. And here's a twist on perspective - what do you see when you're TV is turned off?
As for me, I'm gaining a whole new perspective on art, by taking an oil painting class. I was a Fine Art major, but haven't painted in a long time, and never with oil. Right now I'm working on a 30" x 40" piece - ambitious, I know, but I'm excited to try something new.
As the seasons change, what looks like it needs changing in your home? Give us a call - we're here to bring new energy in, so you can get a fresh perspective on life.
Warmest Regards,
Julie Ann Segal

Meet the Artist
Inside the Blue & White Art Gallery with Israeli Artist Udi Merioz
"People want art that touches the soul."
- Udi Merioz, Artist and Owner of Blue & White Art Gallery
On my recent trip to Jerusalem, it was a true pleasure to meet artist Udi Merioz at his Blue & White Art Gallery. In speaking with him and getting the inside story on his career as a gallery owner, artist, and curator to the Israeli Prime Minister, I found that even worlds apart, we have a lot in common when it comes to the meaning of art.

Before & After
Elegant Window Coverings
 |
BEFORE
|
Before, the harshness of these metal mini-blinds did nothing to soften my client Mary Beth's home office, like she wanted.
For the redesign ( read the full story here), we removed the mini-blinds, and covered the two windows with new Horizons Shades of Elegance window coverings. Mary Beth loves the look and convenience that come with the new shades.
"I like to be in my office even when I'm not working...
It is actually a relaxing place to be."
- Mary Beth
