RVAR Ends Affiliate Key Program
RVAR's Board of Directors has terminated the Affiliate key program. Last month, RVAR suspended its Affiliate key program due to a recently discovered security glitch related to Supra's cbs codes. RVAR met with Supra last month to address this issue. Supra was previously unaware of this glitch, which turned out to be more complicated than expected.
Affiliate keyholders have been notified of the termination of this program.
NOTE: The Supra keys used by REALTORS® are not affected by this glitch.

Housing on Track for Best Year Since 2006
The residential real estate market is on track for its best year since the peak of the housing bubble in 2006, notes realtor.com® Chief Economist Jonathan Smoke. But as Smoke is quick to point out, this time it's not a housing bubble. That's because job growth is fueling the most recent climb in demand for homes.
As job growth increases, demand has followed. Homes are selling more quickly and median home prices are rising nationwide. At the national real estate market's current level of growth, total home sales this year could near 6 million, which is near the peak seen in 2006, Smoke notes.
The Roanoke Valley MLS just released its May home sales statistics, which reflect 456 homes closed in May -- the highest number of May closings since May, 2006. Click here for the May home sales statistics, including a four-year comparison.

Standard Forms Update: July 1st Changes
Three new forms will be added to the RVAR forms library in zipForms as of July 1st. These forms are being added for your convenience, so you do not have to switch over to the VAR forms library to access these forms:
- Removal of Contingency
- Release of Contract
- Termination of Contract
A revision is also being made to the Exclusive Right to Represent Seller Agreement, Paragraph 11, to eliminate the reference to Affiliate keys.

Are You A Leader?
Do you enjoy serving others around you? Do you like to be among the very first to hear about trends affecting your business? Do you like to be plugged in? Are you looking for a challenging way to give back to your Association? Then you should consider a position as a member of RVAR's Board of Directors. It is one of the most rewarding and educational opportunities you will experience in your business!
RVAR's Board of Directors has announced the following leadership openings for 2016: President-elect, Vice President and 3 Director positions.
Monday, August 3rd is the deadline for receipt of written applications. The Nominating Committee will request a personal interview with each candidate in early August and recommend a slate of Officers and Directors to the Board of Directors. The membership will be notified of this slate in early September. Petition candidates may also file during September. Should there be any contested positions, an election by ballot will be held in the fall. The only stipulation for applicants is that there can be no more than two REALTORS® from the same firm serving on the Board at any given time. NOTE: The Immediate Past President is exempt from this requirement. Continuing their service on the 2016 Board will be: President Donna Marie Harris (Long & Foster); Immediate Past President Vic Coffey (RE/MAX All Stars); and Directors Becky Fields (BHHS Premier); Fred Hall (BHHS Premier); Adam Lynch (Berkshire Hathaway Smith Mtn. Lake); and Renee Wiggins (RE/MAX All Stars). Any questions about leadership responsibilities or the nominations process should be addressed to Nominating Chairman Betty Kingery or Chief Executive Officer Laura Benjamin.
