Creating value for Nebraska's career education system

Greetings!

According to the children's rhyme, April showers bring May flowers. I certainly hope so and maybe warmer temperatures!

The Nebraska Career Education Conference registration is open now. Click on the link to register.  PFI and NDE will be hosting a Career Academy meeting during the pre-session. The Career Academy meeting is open to the public and free of charge, but is most applicable to those who manage Academy programs. If you plan on attending, please register through the NCE Conference website so we have an accurate meal and materials count. The agenda will be posted on the PFI website once finalized.

PFI is working on our 2013-14 Program of Work. If you have ideas or recommendations as to how PFI can add value to Nebraska's Career Education System, please let Erika know as soon as possible. The Program of Work and annual budget  is approved at the June meeting.

If PFI can be of service to you or your institution, please do not hesitate to contact us

  • Lincoln & SCC Regional Career Capital Center Planning Grant
  • Nebraska CASE Institute: Plant Science
  • Developmental Education Articulation & Completion
  • Leadership Now! Community College Leadership Training

Two submitted proposals were moved to the Program of Work and will be voted on at the June PFI meeting.  One proposal was denied and a final proposal was approved but reduced by the Council. The applicant chose not to continue with the application due to the reduced funding.  Stay tuned to the PFI website for updates on these applications.

About Us

Partnerships for Innovation (PFI)  is a collaboration of Nebraska secondary and postsecondary partners focused on building a better statewide system of Career and Technical Education to improve student learning and better meet economic development priorities. PFI will do this by introducing innovation in CTE delivery systems to include Career Academies, professional development and programs of study with coordinated curriculum between secondary and postsecondary.

If you would like assistance on implementing these initiatives in your community, please contact us.

Sincerely,

Erika Volker, Director
