What's Happening in the Region

Organizations and state partners in New England are busy bringing together diverse creative economy practitioners. Here are a few examples:

  • RISCA and the City of Providence Department of Art, Culture + Tourism held the first-ever Rhode Island DataFest on October 26 to discuss the ways to collect and report the value of the arts sector in the state.Three talks occurred: 
    1. Pew Charitable Trusts led a workshop, How to Use Your Cultural Data Project Data.  
    2. Americans for the Arts presented the Arts and Economy Prosperity IV report. The arts created 4,669 full-time jobs in Providence and the city generates 4-5 times in industry expenditure and jobs than other cities its size.
    3. AMS Planning & Research and AMS Analytics presented Understanding Change in Providence's Arts and Cultural Sector.
